ETERNAL SECURITY | PART 3

IDENTITY IN CHRIST | DAY 15

Ephesians 1:13-14

In him you also were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and when you believed. 14 The Holy Spirit is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption of the possession, to the praise of his glory.

God the Holy Spirit sealed us forever

So God the Father has CHOSEN us, God the Son has SAVED us, and God the Holy Spirit SEALS us. It’s a done deal. You were chosen, saved, and sealed by God. You will always be His!! Since you did not choose God (He CHOSE you!) You can not unchoose Him. You have been sealed. God’s mark is upon you which makes your status forever His. At my house, we have this super cool door lock. When my family approaches the door, it automatically unlocks because our phones have a specific code. No one else can get in but us. We have access because of the code. YOU have access to the Father because the Son (blameless one) has died for you and the Holy Spirit has sealed you with a salvation code. This salvation code is a sign of your future inheritance. Eternity in heaven is promised not because you are a good person (remember we have much blame!) but because Jesus is a perfect person who has made the way for you.

Questions

  • What do you struggle believing about these past three devotionals?

  • Before you became a Christian, what did you believe a person needed to do to get to heaven?

  • How would you explain this salvation process to yourself before you were a Christian?
