IDENTITY IN CHRIST | DAY 16
Colossians 1:12-14
giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light. 13 He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves. 14 In him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
I have been given an eternal inheritance
Let's talk about eternity. The Bible is super clear about Heaven and Hell. Our future location has nothing to do with if we are good people, but rather in whom we trust. You can trust in your own instincts, define for yourself what you believe is good and bad, and appear before God one day. His response will be, I never knew you. Depart from me (Matthew 7:23). The only option is to trust in Christ alone. By the way, a SAINT is anyone who trusts in Christ alone. Not someone who has done great things, but someone who TRUSTS alone in the Great one, Jesus! We have learned this week that this is the only way to secure salvation. Because of this…. WE GIVE THANKS!! Woohoo! We have been saved! We are allowed the extreme privilege to share an incredible inheritance with all of God’s children!
Several things are absolute about this process:
God has done all the saving, not us
All of God’s children were living in darkness
All of God’s children are rescued and now live in light
This kingdom of light’s KING is Jesus
Our King is the one who has redeemed us
We are free in Christ alone!!
