IDENTITY IN CHRIST | DAY 26
2nd Corinthians 9:8-9
And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work. 9 As it is written: He distributed freely; he gave to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.
I am equipped by Grace
When I am getting ready to buy a new laptop, air fryer, workout equipment, you name it, I spend time doing the research! The right equipment is very important to any calling. This scripture mentions every grace. What does that mean? It means that in whatever you are called to do in Christ, His grace is extended to you. Need to be a better friend? His grace is extended to you. Need to be a better spouse/employee/parent/ etc.? His grace is extended to you. God’s GRACE through Jesus is what equips you! It is all that you need. Here is the real question. Am I doing what I’m called to do, therefore being equipped by God with the grace I need? How do we test this? Here is what the scripture says:
1.) God calls His people to do good works
Remember, works don’t save you, but they are a sign of who you are in Christ
2.) God gives with no strings attached
Like our heavenly Father, our giving to others should be free, not attached to some other motive
3.) God gives to those who can not pay Him back
Something beautiful about giving to those who can’t pay you back. This is what God has done for us!
Questions
Have you ever been in a time of need and someone has helped you out? Looking back, how do you feel about that moment?
When someone offers to help you, do you trust their motive? Why or why not?
God equips His people to do His work. What do you need to ask the Lord to equip you to do?
