JESUS IS THE ONLY SAVIOR

Luke 24:44-53 | Part 3

Luke 24:44 | He told them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

1.) All prophecy is fulfilled about Jesus

Luke 24:45-46 | Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. 46 He also said to them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day,

2.) Jesus equips His church for His service

  • Equipping begins with knowledge

  • All knowledge comes from Christ

  • Comprehension of scripture is a gift

  • Do you want the gift? Example?

Matthew 13:44-46 | “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. 45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, 46 who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
  • Have you ever given up something valuable to obtain something…even more valuable?

  • Time for education

  • Rest for the care of children/elders

  • Resources to serve others

  • When you value something, you will give up other valuable things for it. When you don’t value something, you won’t

If you don’t pursue something, can you say that you really want it? What you are saying is, “I know I should want this, but I don’t”

So what do we do?

Mark 9:19-24 | He replied to them, “You unbelieving generation, how long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him to me.” 20 So they brought the boy to him. When the spirit saw him, it immediately threw the boy into convulsions. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. 21 “How long has this been happening to him?” Jesus asked his father. “From childhood,” he said. 22 “And many times it has thrown him into fire or water to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” 23 Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’? Everything is possible for the one who believes.” 24 Immediately the father of the boy cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!”
  • If you can do anything

  • Jesus can do all things

  • Belief in Christ is the question

  • Help my unbelief!

  • God is revealing His heart to you from the scriptures!!

Luke 24:47 | and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations,

3.) Repentance leads to forgiveness

  • for all who believe all over the world

  • throughout all time

  • Forgiveness opens the opportunity for change

Luke 24:48-49 |beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered from on high.”

4.) Jesus sends His people out

  • Jerusalem

  • Judea

  • Ends of the earth

The Ascension of Jesus

Luke 24:50 | Then he led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them.

Luke 24:51 | And while he was blessing them, he left them and was carried up into heaven. 52 After worshiping him, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53 And they were continually in the temple praising God.
  • Jesus blessed while he lived, at the last supper, during His crucifixion, when He arose, and as He left to sit at God’s right hand

  • What’s keeping you from blessing others? Be like Jesus!

  • Let’s be blessed by some baptisms!
