Part 2
Hebrews 10:21-25
21 and since we have a great high priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water. 23 Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, 25 not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching
Jesus is our High Priest. He is our God. Our King. Our Savior. He is the firstborn, the beginning and the end. Now way to get to God but through Jesus. If you know Jesus, you know God. if you don’t know Jesus, the God you think you know is demonic.
What is our calling this year, MISSION CHURCH?? Be nice? Be sweet? Be moral?
Hold on to your confession! The one you confess is worthy and FAITHFUL to His people!
Look to the left and the right of you! Irritate these folks to love and good works this year!
Be a part of the church this year. Choose community over comfort.
Encourage one another. THAT IS YOUR SUPER POWER!
These are the YOU CAN DO IT verses!
Kind of like getting pumped up to do a project and you are told all of the benefits to come!
This next part of scripture is the sober truth. Here is what will happen:
Hebrews 10:31-39
It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
This verse rocks me. Scares me. Pushes me to obey.
32 Remember the earlier days when, after you had been enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings.
With enlightenment this year, with truth, will come some hard struggles. Some sufferings
33 Sometimes you were publicly exposed to taunts and afflictions, and at other times you were companions of those who were treated that way.
Whether you like it or not, and I know this really bothers a lot of you that don’t like any form of confrontation, it’s coming
In the near future it will be unavoidable
When it happens you will either compromise, or…
Be taunted. Be afflicted. Suffer alongside those that are
34 For you sympathized with the prisoners and accepted with joy the confiscation of your possessions, because you know that you yourselves have a better and enduring possession.
The early church accepted with JOY when their lives were disrupted and taken from them
We get upset when the wifi is not fast, and traffic does not get us to our destination fast enough
How did they do this?
They were anchored in the future, and not bound in the present
35 So don’t throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you need endurance, so that after you have done God’s will, you may receive what was promised.
CONFIDENT ENDURANCE IN CHRIST -> GREAT REWARD
37 For yet in a very little while,
the Coming One will come and not delay.
38 But my righteous one will live by faith;
and if he draws back,
I have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not those who draw back and are destroyed, but those who have faith and are saved.
Church this year, you and I are called to not pull back, but to press forward in the name of Jesus!
